Holiday (1) Visit UNESCO world Herritage VILLAGE SALTAIRE.

Saltaire is a Victorian model village near Shipley, West Yorkshire, England, situated between the River Aire, the railway, and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Salts Mill and the houses were built by Titus Salt between 1851 and 1871 to allow his workers to live in better conditions than the slums of Bradford. Saltaire Village was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001

The trip will include

A visit to Salts Mill:  the iconic former textile mill is the heart of Saltaire and houses the 1853 Gallery with a significant David Hockney collection

A visit to Victoria Hall:  A magnificent 15th-century Italian-inspired building that serves as a cultural center and offers a glimpse into the recreational and educational opportunities for former mill workers

A visit to Saltaire United Reformed Church:  humble Methodist church, a beautiful and iconic landmark within the model village

A visit to Roberts Park: as we stroll through this beautiful park situated along the River Aire, offering lovely views and green spaces

We will take a ride on Britain’s oldest working cable-hauled tramway, a charming and historic way to reach the scenic Shipley Glen with a day spent rock climbing and watch the Loadpit Beck trickle by.

We will Take a scenic walk along the Canal towpath, with views of Salts Mill and the River Aire.

Take a Milner Estate and Delph Woods Walk stopping at Ravines, the old Gatehouse, and Maggie’s Seat

We will walk around the village to see  several types of stone-built houses, including smaller, plainer workmen’s cottages for ordinary workers, more elaborate overlookers’ houses with front gardens and decorative features like arched windows, and larger boarding houses for single men. We will also visit the Saltaire Brewery and Gordons Terrace which  exemplifies the high architectural and design standards of the model village, which had a significant influence on urban planning and industrial social welfare

The length of the trip will be 3 weeks before your friend makes their way back home. Should the weather be too extreme to enjoy the village to the full the trip may be extended by another week. Your friend will return from the trip with beautiful vacation photos  on a USB stick that we will provide. You will recieve postcards from the village and a stamp in your teddy passport
